Certified Orthotist

Afsoon Razmjooee is a certified orthotist with over 18 years of clinical experience in orthotic assessment, design, and fabrication. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics before completing a two-year residency in Clinical Orthotics Management, where she developed advanced expertise in the assessment and management of patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and orthopedic conditions. As the founder and clinical director of Orthomake Clinic in Ottawa, Afsoon is dedicated to providing personalized orthotic solutions that improve mobility, function, comfort, and overall quality of life.
Throughout her career, Afsoon has worked with patients of all ages and a wide variety of conditions requiring lower extremity, upper extremity, spinal, and foot orthoses. She has extensive experience designing and fitting custom braces for patients recovering from orthopedic surgery, sports injuries, neurological disorders, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. Her clinical approach focuses on combining biomechanical principles with individualized patient assessment to optimize function while maximizing comfort and long-term outcomes.
Afsoon has a particular interest in postoperative rehabilitation and the role of orthotic management throughout the recovery process. She works closely with surgeons, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the most appropriate orthotic support at each stage of healing. This includes postoperative immobilization during tissue protection, progressive bracing during the healing phase, and functional orthotic management to restore movement, improve joint stability, and facilitate a safe return to daily activities and sport. Her experience spans postoperative care for conditions involving the knee, ankle, foot, upper extremity, and spine, as well as the management of long-term gait and movement impairments.
In addition to her clinical work, Afsoon is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education. She believes that successful rehabilitation depends on close communication between healthcare professionals and individualized treatment plans that integrate orthotic management with evidence-based rehabilitation. Fluent in English, French, and Farsi, she is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centred care to Ottawa’s diverse community.
As a member of the RehabOttawa.ca team, Afsoon contributes her expertise in orthotic management to the development and review of evidence-based postoperative rehabilitation protocols. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, researchers, and healthcare professionals, she helps ensure that recommendations related to postoperative bracing, joint protection, progressive mobilization, and functional recovery reflect current best practices.
